(comment) This is the original artwork used for the 1997 Carddass series, commonly known as "Kime-waza" or "Ao-ban". This series of Carddass features white-bellied Pikachu design (seen in early comics Pok mon 4-Koma DX), retains the distinctive style of Ken Sugimori's early illustrations, so is this illustration. This artwork is also used on the back of the white-bellied Pikachu card for the image of its evolved form. So many of Pokemon fan may recognize.
Like the early Pikachu, the early Raichu is characterized by its adorable, chubby style. While later cards often depict Raichu in its Electric Shock form in a cool and stylish manner, this illustration retains the early, pastoral atmosphere, and the softness of the watercolor adds a touch of humor.
